Buying out subs means that they are agreeing on final prices and sending out sub-contracts. So if three abatement contractors bid that abatement and the low price was $3 million. Now there is one winning demolition bidder and he will be able to get the low guy off his $3 million to $2.75 and send him a sub-contract because he has the power becuase he won.

Wrecker it seems your the only one with a truly reliable source. Demco has been awarded the job. They are "buying-out" subs as we speak.

With the abatement completed we have been mobilizing in with equipment for the take down. I am not at that site as I am in Brooklyn New York.
Waiting for the "Official", word on Yankee Stadium. Take Care, and work safe.

I see everyone is quoting their sources... "On the street", "From a reliable source", etc. I would not publicly out my source either. Regardless of what anyone says it will be doubted until something is publicized, so suffice to say I have a reliable source as well.

I also have heard, from less reliable sources that Testa is proclaiming to have the job as is Demco. Spiritas couldn't bond Shea and had that contract taken away, so I wouldn't expect them to be awarded this one.

When they renovated Yankee Stadium in 1973, it was continually hit by grafitti artists, and Steinbrenner freaked out every time the stadium got spray painted. He sent his crews out immediately to repaint it. There is no way the team would let the old Yankee Stadium just sit for two years---it would be completely trashed and not fitting for the Yankee team image. Can't imagine they would delay the demo for two years, but I would be interested to find out what the story is.

DemoBoss---what kind of jobs is Testa doing in the City? Be curious to find out.

Who ever gets the job, and good luck to all, it will be quite a feather in your cap to bring down Yankee Stadium. Did you see the article in Sports Illustrated about the stadium? It's written in first person, and has the stadium telling its stories. Great piece to pick up, if you get a chance.

As you have noticed I haven't repled too the"word on the street", as it is not reliable. Bids are in,an nothing official has been put out.
Mean while we at Testa Corp have been busy on other projects in the City.

I agree with Wolf. I live in NYC. There has been nothing in the papers about this. There is no way possible they can wait 2 years. The demo of the stadium is part of a larger redevelopment plan that must be done as per the City's agreement with the community. That was how they sold the new stadium to the community. RJ, what is your source for this info??

What is your source of information that the demo of Yankee Stadium is on hold for two years?

No need for speculation, those that are rumoring Testa has the job or Demco has the job are all wrong. It is on hold for 2 years. No one will be chosen and it may even be put back out for re-bid when the time is right.

Congratulations to Demco. That's an awesome task to take down Yankee Stadium. I hear the good stuff is already gone though - - -

It would be a hoot if Testa got it. But I feel bad for the Boston boys who go to take it down. They won't be well liked.
