I have done this once. Luckily it was for a string of crack houses and we demolished one that simply hadn't been released by the county yet.

This just happened a few days ago here in Detroit too! Years ago, one of our operators grabbed onto the front porch of the wrong house. The one we were supposed to be taking down was next door but, everything kinda looks the same here! Anyway, the lady inside came out yelling!!! Ooops!

I came home once after a long weekend to find 3 pickup trucks in front of my house, a dumpster in my drive-way and an army of workers stripping the roof off my 2 story carriage house.
They were down to bare wood in the back and had already replaced all the rotted boards.

I casually walked into the drive and walked up to the first guy I could find and said, 'What the frak is going on?'.......

He looked at me and ..'Are you the owner of this house?' and I replied 'Yes'....

He said ..'Ummm, we just realized out mistake..'

No sooner did he say that when a White Escalade pulls into the driveway and out steps a little old man.
After yelling at the foreman he turns to me and says,
'What color roof would you like?'

He apologized and said that this happens once every 10 years or so.

As it turned out the work-order said 'garage behind the house', 'owner not home',
the address was listed as 20 Dartmouth Street and I live at 26 Dartmouth Street.

However, whoever wrote the work-order rushed when they wrote 20 and looped the zero slightly so it looked more like a 6 than a zero....

A new roof for the carriage house.
Best investment I ever made on my workshop garage...

I hate to say this but I did the same thing on a city contract. Our mistake was in house the wrong address got printed on the work order. We did not find out for a month. the owner was out of state and was planning on rehabing the house at a later time.

Everything went right with the demolition of a three-bedroom house in Carroll County, GA Monday. Everything, that is, except that it was the wrong house.

Homeowner Al Byrd received a phone call Monday that the family home built by his father had been demolished, according to a story by WSB-TV.

Byrd said the Marietta demolition company that destroyed the house told him their paperwork and GPS coordinates led them to Byrd
