The owner of a local trucking company on Wednesday was sentenced to probation and community service for illegal dumping.

Last February, tons of concrete rubble from a restaurant demolition was left at a lot in Maunawili.

Truck company owner Rick James Martin admitted dumping the material, although he said he thought he had the owner's permission and did remove the debris later.

The judge sentenced Martin to five years probation, 300 hours of community service and a $1,000 fine.
