The boom was loud, but the view not as picturesque as two
weeks ago. "You had all of the smoke and the dust last time so this time it wasn't as nice to view but better audio quality," Bob Cutler said.

City officials cordoned off a 1,200-foot perimeter prior to the blast. It was twice the size of the safety barrier of the first demolition. There wasn't as much hoopla surrounding Tuesday's blast because of warnings it wouldn't be as impressive as two weeks ago. "I mean it was still impressive, it was really neat to watch it drop straight down like that," David Bevens, city spokesperson, said.

No injures or any other complications were reported at Tuesday's demolition. Bevens called it a success. "The way it was set up, I think it went off very well today," Bevens said.

The next phase of the bridge demolition is set for Thursday at 3 p.m.

OUCH!

They changed the video, The one I posted was just the implosion feed live, not the follow-up story. So I didn't see or hear that.

"But the success didn't come without a couple glitches. Flying concrete hit a topeka fire inspector standing by the barricade. The debris went through the skin above her lip, and she had to go to the hospital. She was later released and back on the job. A young boy was also cut by debris but didn't need treatment. Those chunks also broke at least one window and punched a hole in a wall."

That's almost a 2,000 foot long bridge!

Yep, there will be 2 more set-ups, the next shot will be in about 2 weeks.

Save for the part where the Fire Inspector gets hit in the face with fly rock.

Another reason why explosives demolition shouldn't be a spectator sport.
