Meadville City Council awarded a bid for the demolition of the Mill Run Parking Garage to Three Rivers Dismantlement LLC for a base bid amount of $364,000.
The demolition includes both segments commonly referred to as the Water Street Garage and Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Garage.
Architect Ashley Porter of Porter Consulting Engineers recommended the bid after a withdrawal from initial low bidder Empire Dismantlement Corp. LLC as the result of a mathematical error.
“Three Rivers is a qualified bidder,” Porter told council members, indicating the next step was to “prepare a notice of award and execute a notice to proceed” with the demolition.
The process will potentially take a few weeks, after which Three Rivers will have 90 days to complete the project, according to Andy Walker, city manager.
Demolition is likely to occur in at least three months, Walker said.
