In a follow-up story in Herb Duane's Newsletter, the demolition of the Sportsman's Park/Chicago Motor Speedway began this week in Cicero, IL. This historic track, converted from a dog track to a horse track by Edward O'Hare and Al Capone in the early 1930s, is coming down after being closed since 2003.
Demolition crews will remove everything on the entire 68-acre site, including the asphalt and concrete oval track that was left from the failed Chicago Motor Speedway.
N.F. Demolition of Cicero, IL is performing the demolition.
