The city is laying charges against a Winnipeg construction company for violating the conditions of a permit to demolish the former Starland Theatre on Main Street.

A city spokesman confirmed that city was taking Man-Shield Construction Inc. to court.

On May 1, a section of the building collapsed during demolition, scattering debris.
