Resurrecting this thread as there is an article in today's Miami Today stating that the property will be "razed" in the fall of 07. Any new details on whether it will be imploded? Thanks :)

I would guess we will probably find out in the the fall. They mostly release the date a couple months ahead of time. Sometimes a week or 2 before.

Approval has been given in the latest city council meeting for the new development which will replace the existing Sheraton Bal Harbour Hotel. The developers are now applying for the demolition permits but they are on the fence about whether the building will be imploded or mechanically demolished. Demolition is projected to start in June 2006.
