A renovation project at a Buffalo, NY high school is on hold after work crews uncovered human skeletal remains believed to date back more than a century.
Officials at City Honors High School say excavations conducted on the front lawn earlier this week unearthed the remains of 3 adults and one infant.
The discovery didn't surprise school administrators. The school was built on the site of a cemetery that was closed in the late 19th century. At that time, most of the remains were re-interred at another Buffalo cemetery.
The land was used as a park for a few years before a school was built at the site more than 100 years ago.
School officials say the renovation project will be delayed for a time, but is expected to begin in July 2008.
