James,
Take another look at that site. It was really,really tight. When you blast a tall slender object like a radio tower it usually projects itself about 30-40% of it's height do to the whipping motion. Those antennas had to be choreographed and that ain't easy to do.

No dice works.:) "Dice" is the conjugation of "to say" so "no dice" means "you can't say it". My high school Spanish teacher is from a small town in Catalonia called Segarra. She had moved to South America by the time they were built (her husband was a cellist with various symphonies).

There is a pretty interesting history behind the towers. They were built to transmit anti communist messages into the former Soviet Union. After the Cold War ended the US government turned over control to the Catalonian government. A couple of years ago someone figured out that the transmitter was perfectly situated to beam radio transmissions into the Muslim world but the Spanish said "No dice" (or whatever the Spanish equivalent is)
