The Blanchette Bridge has stood for more than 50 yeras.

On November 18th one section of the bridge's steel truss was demolished, dropping 1.5 million pounds of steel into the Missouri River.

MoDOT officials said the contractor has 48 hours to extract all of the dumped steel from the river.

Omega Demolition based in Elgin, IL is the demolition contractor.
