Demolition began on the north end of Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium to make way for a new and improved north end, to be completed by August 2008.

The original north end was built in 1924, solely for additional seating at football games. The new structure will be more of a multi-purpose facility. It will increase the stadium's capacity to more than 90,000 and bring fans about 30 yards closer to the action.
