1st of all Mazzocchi has it's own Abatement crew for Mold, Lead, and Asbestos, so there is no reason for them to need someone else to handle abatement. I know there the ones who were bought, yet they are a more then capable company and were doing just fine on there own.

Truthfully I don't understand this merger at all, personally I think it was a huge waste of time and money spent. I say that because after visiting Mazzocchi to get a first hand look at there new addition to the LRD family, I saw that every single vehical had to be re-painted and afixed with the new LVI/MAZZOCCHI label, that is not a cheap process even if it's in-house accomplished.

This is not the only expense but it was a costly one, there are others but that one being the most obvious to the public.

Mazzocchi paid better. It's hard to deal with LVI.

LVI is mostly an environmental company so buying Mazzocchi gives them the demo experience so when they bid a job they can do the entire package abatement and the demo. Plus when these companies get bought out they usually keep the owners on the pay roll as a president, vp or consultant. Great Lakes dredging bought out NASDI and did the same thing

I have to say Grace is one amazing woman, I met her and the acquisitions officer Ronald Callari, and these are probly the 2 main individuals that keep Mazzocchi Wreckings heart beating. Just really wonderful nice people that excel in a fierce business.

Well, it's been almost two years since the merger. Mazzochi seems to be thriving. How is it working out? Anyone close to the companies know for sure?

The press release talks about the "demolition and wrecking markets.

What is the difference between the demolition market and the wrecking market?

See below:

"Mazzocchi is a highly regarded demolition company with a long history of serving its clients well, and together we intend to expand our presence in the demolition, wrecking, environmental remediation and related markets

Well it's official now!

LVI Services Inc., the nation's largest environmental remediation and facility services firm with more than 30 offices across the country, announced today that it has acquired the business of Mazzocchi Wrecking, Inc., a demolition and wrecking company serving the northeastern United States. The joining of Mazzocchi, the largest demolition/wrecking company in the New York metropolitan area and the seventh- largest in the U.S., and LVI, the nation's largest asbestos abatement firm, now enables LVI to offer its clients in the Northeast self-performed demolition/wrecking in addition to its other remediation and emergency response facility services.

Mazzocchi specializes in articulated and "surgical" demolition by using its high-reach, heavy-shear equipment on tight sites where a traditional "wrecking ball" or explosives are prohibited or severely restricted. Surgical demolition is also safer and more cost- and schedule-efficient. Mazzocchi's work includes the demolition of high-rise buildings, industrial structures, bridges and marine projects.

With more than 45 years in business, the East Hanover, N.J.-based company extends LVI's market appeal into many public-sector projects and the tight sites for demolition that are typical of cities in the northeastern U.S. Mazzocchi's managers and personnel, including company founders Grace and Nick Mazzocchi, and equipment operators will become part of the LVI team.

"Mazzocchi is a highly regarded demolition company with a long history of serving its clients well, and together we intend to expand our presence in the demolition, wrecking, environmental remediation and related markets, particularly in the eastern United States," said Bob McNamara, President and CEO of New York City-based LVI Services. "We look forward to Mazzocchi's significant contributions to the continued success of LVI as we add significant additional demolition/wrecking capabilities to LVI's existing nationwide network of structural demolition capabilities."

"As a result of this acquisition by LVI, Mazzocchi now has the opportunity to bring our clients an even broader array of environmental remediation and cleanup services," said Grace Mazzocchi, co-founder and President of LVI/Mazzocchi Wrecking. "Like LVI Services, our commitment to client service and building strong client relationships is crucial to our success. We are very pleased to join with LVI in building a larger and even more responsive and capable organization."

The addition of Mazzocchi enhances LVI's continued growth in the demolition market, adds unique capabilities with specialized equipment, and solidifies the company's presence in the East Coast infrastructure market. LVI offers total turnkey demolition services for both commercial and industrial Fortune 500 clients. The company has state-of-the-art demolition equipment capable of performing large-scale concrete cutting, crushing and separating, as well as steel cutting and equipment dismantling. Mazzocchi has more than 200 pieces of wrecking equipment, including long-reach excavators that extend up to 192 feet.

The combined company will have one of the industry's best safety records, best-in-class bonding capacity and world-class, and high-reach "surgical" demolition. Past Mazzocchi projects include the World Trade Center Ground Zero site, Con Edison in Manhattan, an FAA traffic control tower at Newark Airport, and Resorts Casino in Atlantic City. LVI has performed major demolition projects for Las Vegas resorts, Hollywood movie sets, industrial manufacturing and chemical plants, power plants and commercial facilities. Most recently, LVI has been involved in the remediation, demolition and site preparation of the Stardust Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
