I was there for a while this AM, from outside the exclusion perimeter at Hydro and Rangeview you can't really see all of the site due to trees, buildings etc in the foreground.

There is an area with great sight lines well inside the exclusion fence south of Rangeview on Hydro, where Discovery and others are shooting from but that is available to accredited media only, CTV had their satellite truck there this morning.

I drove or walked almost all of the perimeter and the location where you can best catch the whole North face of the powerhouse is on the west side where the perimeter crosses Lakeshore Promenade.

I'd love to find a way to be allowed into the media area...

I was out at the site, it was dead still, no wind at all until about 9:30ish then when the wind did start to pick up it was blowing in off the lake, wrong direction. I think they were hoping for rain which did not materialize.

The scheduled demolition of Mississauga's Lakeview Generating Station, originally scheduled for today, has been delayed till Thursday morning.

The demolition company -- Murray Demolition of Toronto -- did not feel the conditions were right, but did not specify reasons for the delay.

The site is only just over a kilometer from a major highway, although they are pushing the as "respect for their neighbors" I suspect the real reason is concern that the dust cloud would cause visibility problems on the highway during morning rush hour.

Lakeview's official word:

The demolition scheduled for Monday, June 25, 2007 has been postponed. Wind conditions are not right.

The demolition company will re-evaluate conditions on Monday and OPG will
issue an update as soon as we have further information.

I went out to the area to scout sites outside the exclusion zone for photographing the shot. Signs were posted that the shot has been postponed. It will go the first day that they have winds from the North or rain, forecast doesn't look good for Tuesday either, Wednesday may happen in the rain.

If all goes well, a series of 53 explosions using 726 pounds of dynamite will cause the remaining portion of the huge powerhouse at Lakeview Generating Station to start folding in on itself in collapse early on June 25.

The remaining structure, about 1,200 feet long, 300 feet wide and 200 feet high, will implode, causing a giant dust cloud that will drift out over Lake Ontario, if weather conditions cooperate, a spokesperson for Murray Demolition said yesterday at an information session for local ratepayers.
