Right now we're at the Sellafield site in the UK. We are supposed to fell the four Calder Hall cooling towers on Sept 29th.
This place is crazy! We had our explosives taken away from us on Tuesday morning. They were delivered as scheduled, but someone in a building a half a mile away would not sign off on the permit. We didn't load today, so now we are two days behind.
We were given a verbal approval this afternoon to start loading tomorrow.
This is typical. We signed our Contract back in September of 2005! It's taken British Nuclear Fuels two years to get approval from the NII. This is the first time explosives have ever been used within an active nuclear facility in the UK.
Hopefully, we'll start tomorrow...
http://www.whec.com - Another building in Kodak Park comes down
Kodak has postponed next weekend's planned implosion of the building 65-69 complex at the corner of West Ridge Road and Dewey Avenue.
Contractors need more time to prepare the building for demolition. Kodak has not yet set a new date for the operation.
This Saturday's demolition of Kodak Park building 50 is still a go. Rochester police plan to close off a stretch of Lake Avenue and Maplewood Drive for Saturday's demolition of building 50.
Starting at 6 a.m., Lake Avenue closes from West Ridge Road north to Merrill Street. Maplewood Drive will also close at Bridgeview Drive. A detour takes cars around Kodak Park using West Ridge Road, Dewey Avenue, and Merrill Street.
Demolition of the former photographic paper operations building is set for 7 a.m.
Kodak management said high winds slated for Saturday could force it to eliminate a spectator area planned for lot 40 on Lake Avenue.
