PG&E has hired URS to begin the demolition of the Kern Power Plant in Bakersfield, CA.

URS Corporation, also known as URS Corporation Americas, and its subsidiary Cleveland Wrecking Company, will handle the demolition. URS is a global engineering, construction and technical services firm that has been involved in challenging projects, including the Hoover Dam, the Trans-Atlanta Pipeline and reconstruction of the World Trade Center site. The company has offices in Bakersfield.

Cleveland Wrecking will begin asbestos abatement in April and demolition is expected to begin this summer.

The demolition and cleanup of Kern Power Plant is a multi-year and multi-phase project.
