Hey Sparffo,

If it's any consolation, I'd be glad to give you and your company the same degree of coverage on Demolition News if you let me have details of the jobs you're doing.

I like some of your videos so please let me know when you post more.

Incidentally, where in Finland are you - I am an occasional visitor to both Lahti and Tampere...!

IOW, they are a company that doesn't need any web pages or advertisement, they get well paid jobs anyway:p
hopefully my company would gain that status someday  chances are slim to none here in Finland :D

Hi James,

Any idea where/how I might get my hands on the press/media pack (if such a thing exists)?

Hey Mark,

Sorry I am late to respond, I have been extremely busy this past couple of days.

Let me check with a couple of people and see what I can find out. Let me know if you still want one.

This is one of the most interesting demolitions i have ever heard of! I saw by accident a tv program about the "secret" project an the citys that vere built in just a couple of yearsSurprised
they also showed some small clips from the nuke factory when it was working and from today.
hopefully we get the chance to see a lot of pics from the demolition! (probably not...).

Demolition of the historic K-25 facility will begin Tuesday, with a media event scheduled for the afternoon at the Oak Ridge plant.

The actual demolition, which will be a carefully staged "deconstruction," follows many months of preparations and series of readiness reviews by Bechtel Jacobs and the Dept. of Energy. The initial tear down will take place on the uranium-enrichment facility's west wing, which recently was declared "crit incredible'' -- meaning there was no longer a chance of a nuclear critically event.

As such, the critical alarm system in the west wing was deactivated, according to Bechtel Jacobs spokesman Dennis Hill. The alarms are still in place at the north end of the mile-long structure, as well as K-25's east wing, he said.

The significant deposits of U-235 have reportedly been removed from the processing piping and converter systems, and the remaining material was stabilized in place through a foaming process to prepare for dismantlement.

"There were a lot of tests that had to be done," Hill said. "It was determined that the threat of critically no longer existed in the west wing." That, along with meeting a series of other requirements, meant demolition was ready to begin, he said.

About 850 people are working on the K-25 dismantlement and demolition project. That includes Bechtel Jacobs and subcontractors.
