The temporary injunction filed by a Florida disaster recovery company to stop the city of Cedar Rapids from rebidding a demolition project has been denied.

Sixth Judicial District Judge Marsha Beckelman filed her decision this morning. She ruled Bamaco, Inc., didn't show irreparable harm sufficient to justify injunctive relief and failed to show the unavailability of any adequate legal remedy.

Bamaco claimed the city made a verbal agreement to award the company a contract to demolish 28 to 50 homes in flood-damaged areas of Cedar Rapids. Bamaco was determined to be the best and lowest bidder in their second bid request.

City officials said there was no written approval from the council on the award, and they wanted to rebid the project because the scope of the work had doubled in size.
