The late guitar wizard Jimi Hendrix's childhood home has been saved from demolition after a lengthy four year battle and after authorities agreed on a new location at the last minute.

The house will be moved to a site across the street from Greenwood Cemetery in Renton, Washington, where the star was buried following his death in September of 1970.

The James Marshall Hendrix Foundation bought the house for $30,000 in 2001, with plans to turn it into a center offering music lessons, practice rooms and a lending library of musical instruments.

The Hendrix Foundation and the City of Seattle are planning on fixing up the house on the 3 acre site.
