Thank you 1Pyro for your kindness, the sequence Eric ended up using was significantly different than the original plan that we had to use because our footage needed to be submitted about a week prior to the final decision on how to bring it down. Its software... what comes out is only as good as what goes in.
Many thanks to AED for including us in the experience!
MyFox Tampa Bay | Imploding hotel will be magician's venue
That building deserves to be imploded!
The terms are set and ready to go.
The one-hour special -- titled "Building Implosion Escape" -- will follow Angel as he's shackled in a nine-story building that is loaded with explosives and set to detonate. He'll have to undo restraints and overcome physical obstacles to make it to a hovering helicopter on the roof in full view of the audience before the building implodes.
Idaho-based Advanced Explosives Demolition Inc (AED) will join forces with Tampa-based Cross Construction Services (CCS) for the implosion of the historic Spyglass Resort. AED will use over 100 kilograms of explosives on three floors to reduce the nine story structure into 3,000 tons of debris. CCS will recycle the concrete and metals for future construction use.
Illusionist Criss Angel likely will show off his skills during the implosion of a Clearwater Beach hotel this month, a Clearwater spokesman said.
If all goes as planned, Angel will be in the Spyglass Resort as the demolition countdown begins, and he will make his way to a helicopter on the roof before the implosion occurs, said Doug Matthews, a city of Clearwater spokesman.
Matthews said he will know for sure next week whether Angel will come to the hotel to perform.
If Angel performs, the event will be broadcast live on A&E from 10 to 11 p.m. on July 30.
