I heard thru the grapevine that Kinsley will most likely put out a new demo scope on the project to a select few demolition contractors......We suspect we will not be one of the chosen few.

tjd,
Kinsley is apparent low bid for the GC work. Now as you know the demo will be a sub to the GC the low number on the demo i saw was from a company out Pa. This will be negotiated with the GC so it is still up in the air for who will acturally get the work all I know is that we are not in the running for it because we can't and don't want to get near the price range these other contractors are. I wish I could blame it on a scope issue but this was a pretty basic scope.

Montebello WTP Baltimore MD. was bid yesterday the estimated value of the project was $50 million. It consisted of building two new reservoir tanks and demo of one reservoir and pump house modifications, piping and site work.

The demo consisted of removing the reservoir, control structures, 90" water conduit, 84" water conduit, 120" water conduit and selective demo in the pump house and misc. site demo the concrete removal was around 23,000 cuyds this had to be done in three phases.

It cost us about $12,000.00 to bid this project with site visits, wining and dinning GC's and just in time working on bid. So we could come up with a good tight number.

The low bid for the GC was $38 million and high was over $50 million
There were 12 Demolition numbers on the project low being $645,000.00 and the high number was $1.7 million with the other ones being between $800,000.00 to $1.2 million and we were the high number.

When I first heard the numbers on the demo I thought are these guys crazy but then I looked at the GC's numbers and thought this was even more crazy because like the demo numbers these numbers were put out by good companies the low GC is a very good company and the low demo number was put out by a company I have a lot of respect for.

Now instead of thinking they were crazy I am wondering how wrong I was.
