Former Dayco plant
Demolition debris from the former Dayco plant would only add to a mounting problem at the construction and demolition landfill at White Oak, said Bobby Cogdill, director of the HaywoodCounty solid waste department.
Cogdill recently cautioned county commissioners that demolition debris from the plant could trim three years off the life of the construction and demolition landfill. The county has a separate area at the main landfill where construction debris is hauled. The construction and demolition landfill also is used for wood stumps, tree limbs and certain construction materials.
