Workers have begun removing asbestos and drums of hazardous substances from the former DyDee diaper plant in Haddon, PA Township to clear the way for its demolition and the construction of condominiums and commercial space, the developer said yesterday.
The work on Haddon Avenue is expected to take from five to six weeks, and will be immediately followed by the razing of the building. Afterward, the soil and groundwater will be checked for contamination.
Fieldstone Associates, the developer, is planning to build 202 one- and two-bedroom condominiums and about 25,000 square feet of commercial space.
"Environmental cleanup is a tedious process that must be carefully performed under strict guidelines," said Arthur Corsini of Fieldstone
