Erie County is adding a half million dollars to an ambitious demolition project. More of the abandoned Spaulding Fibre plant in Tonawanda, NY is coming down.
The half million dollars will pay for removal of the former fibre making building on the Wheeler Street site. This brings the county's contribution to two million dollars.
The State DEC is cleaning up soil outside the building, and National Grid contributed 300,000 dollars.
Joel Giambra says the latest funds had been allocated to the Erie County Industrial Development Agency, but those projects didn't pan out.
