A highway overpass similar to the one that collapsed on Sept. 30 and killed five people is set to be demolished.
De Blois Boulevard overpass is a twin of de la Concorde Boulevard, which has already been demolished following its collapse last month.
It was deemed prudent to raze de Blois overpass because it had the same design as de la Corcorde overpass. It is also being done to restore public confidence.
Once both structures are removed, portions of the highway that were damaged in the collapse and demolition will be repaved.
In addition to the five deaths, six people were injured when the overpass collapsed.
Work on replacing the two overpasses could begin in December or January, said Jacques Gagnon, the associate deputy minister in charge of the Transport Department.
Gagnon also said it was too soon to say if any faults had been found in the de Blois overpass.
