Real estate developer Uri Kaufman filed a lawsuit to block the demolition of a historic mill in Amsterdam, New York, that he wants to convert into upscale apartments.

The city plans on demolishing the former Chalmers Knitting Mill, a large complex of buildings along the Mohawk River that hummed with activity during the early to mid-1900s before the American textile industry fell on hard times.

The buildings are now run-down and an eyesore in the city
