Do you think the city will get to tear it down and clean up the area, or is this greenie going to stop the progress and make them keep this old building up there? It is indeed a sad situation for Detroit, and this Christmas guy who is suing seems kind of like a nut case.

Are you bidding on the job, Detroit Wrecker? I hope you get it, Mike. You would do it justice I am sure.

This is a really sick situation. This building is SO far gone and beat up it's crazy. Goggle it sometime and you will see. When you see the pictures add 150% worse than it looks and there you go! I walked thru it a few years ago and it was hard to say where you are safe to walk. There is neighborhoods very close by and everyone knows how kids are! Scary stuff! Not to mention. Anyone whom enters Detroit coming from out of state via I-75 See's that as the very first large building. What a embarrassment.

A Detroit man wants to derail the possible demolition of the Michigan Central Station.

Stanley Christmas filed suit this week against the city and City Council, contending the 96-year-old building is protected by the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966.

The council on April 7 approved a resolution seeking emergency demolition of the decrepit 17-story building long considered a symbol of Detroit's decay. Mayor Ken Cockrel Jr. wants to use $3.64 million in federal stimulus funds to raze the station, which closed in 1988.

City attorneys will outline the process to the council on April 28.

Mayoral spokesman Daniel Cherrin says the city has made no firm plans regarding the depot's fate.

Christmas ran for mayor in 2005 and in the Feb. 24 special mayoral election, drawing 103 votes.
