
Demolition is finally under way at the Armorcast property in Birdsboro, borough Manager Aaron J. Durso said at borough council's meeting.
A tank factory during World War II, the abandoned plant is owned by Gregory Flynn of Montgomery County.
According to officials, Flynn wants to redevelop the 91-acre site, which is partly in Union Township, but has not presented plans in seven years.
Durso said Flynn has hired Meco Demolition Inc. of Bensalem, Bucks County, for the demolition, which is supposed to take about a year.
