Contractors bidding for a government tender to demolish Iron Ore Wharf at Fort Hill in Australia are being warned the area could contain unexploded bombs.
A tender to demolish the wharf to make way for the waterfront development closes at the end of the month.
Tender documents warn that unexploded ordnance could be found at the site because the port area was heavily targeted during Japanese air raids in World War Two.
The Department of Planning and Infrastructure has hired a specialist firm to survey the area, but has also set down rules about what contractors needs to do if they find an unidentified metallic object.
