Terrebonne Parish officials have listed for demolition 650 vacant and abandoned structures that were damaged by hurricanes Gustav and Ike.
Most are in flood-prone lower Terrebonne Parish, Houma, LA.
More than 2,000 parish homes took on water as Ike pushed the Gulf of Mexico inland, according to figures provided by parish government.
Some residents have taken buyouts, others have fixed and elevated their homes.
As for the 650 homes slated for demolition, officials plan a survey of those properties to determine which will be eligible for federal reimbursement for the cost of demolition.
