The demolition of Detroit's Tiger Stadium has resumed and the old ballpark could be completely down by Monday.
Crews were working Sunday to knock down the structure which included a column of the stadium where reporters would walk to the press box and broadcast booth.
Fans were taking photos of the old ballpark and talking about what they remembered most about the stadium Saturday and Sunday.
Only a small section of the historic ballpark remained, alongside piles of rubble and demolition equipment.
Connie Ciarlino and Larry Smyrski of Lincoln Park, who have been documenting the stadium's tear-down with 2,000 photographs.
"We were here...waiting for the "D" to come down and they were pulling the dividers to the bathrooms, because on either side were bathrooms, and when they pulled the door out, the toilet paper unrolled and it was like they were (toilet papering) themselves," Ciarlino said.
A permit issue had briefly stopped demolition work. That was resolved, and demolition was due to finish by Oct. 1. Tiger Stadium, on Michigan Avenue and Trumbull, opened in 1912 as Navin Field. The Tigers departed for Comerica Park after the 1999 season.
The demolition work on Tiger Stadium started last year. A section was left standing while preservation advocates sought funds to save it. Demolition resumed in June with a judge's permission.
"Being here through the whole demolition process is kind of like going to a funeral," Smyrski said.
