Caution tape has some pretty magical qualities too. 2 weeks ago I was attending a walk through at a nuke plant. The contractors were were on one side of the caution tape wearing street clothes and not more than 3 feet away on the other side of the tape were workers wearing full moon suits. I guess that tape stops all the "nastiness" too.

That's pretty bad. I worked in a DuPont plant where they had the workforce so drilled to follow caution tape that I could change pathways throught the work site sometimes twice a day and no one would cross. They were like ants following a scent trail.

Implosions are pretty bad. People think it is like a hockey match where the closest spots are the best. I worked on the implosion of a waste to energy plant on Long Island one time and we actually had a guy crawl through the sewer to get a good vantage point. Surprised Here it was, right in the middle of a countdown and the manhole pops off and a guy with a camera pokes his lense out.

I have only worked in one place where caution tape kept people at bay. Some people take it as a challenge.

The one question I have is why, after you have the caution tape up, let the public cross it? That is just a disaster waiting to happen.

You're right thankfully no one was hurt.

Thankfully nobody was hurt but I am sure their insurance agent suffered palpitations.

That was easy:

A cloud of white smoke and debris enveloped crowds of fleeing spectators Saturday when the Ream's Turtle landmark on Freedom Boulevard collapsed prematurely -- no one was seriously injured.

Shortly before noon, the demolition crew invited onlookers to cross the yellow tape for a chance to walk around the perimeter of the Turtle one last time before a brief ceremony. About 10 minutes to noon, bystanders heard concrete rumbling and felt the ground begin to shake. Cracks raced from the top of the dome to the base of the building, and rubble rained down.

That is one of the weirdest looking buildings I have ever seen.

That is the beauty of this business. You never know when the phone rings what adventure awaits. It seems like no 2 projects are ever the same.
