Local members of the state legislature secured $5-million for the demolition of the Kensington Towers last year.
Bids have been received and Centerstone Development CEO John Giardino says the site will be cleared for a new senior housing community, which will known as Heritage Heights.
"The site plans have been completed, the design drawings are done," Giardino said.
The facility will include a state-of-the-art skilled nursing facility, an assisted living complex and an independent living facility.
Giardino says it will be the first project of its type in the City of Buffalo, NY. He says talks are underway with some of the local hospitals to replace other outdated facilities in the city.
Giardino says he hopes demolition of the Kensington Towers can start by August. Construction of Heritage Heights should start in the spring.
