Demolition of Fuhrman's Cider Mill & Bakery began this weekend.
The 111-year-old mill was destroyed in a fire Oct. 28. Its owners have not made a final decision on whether to rebuild.
The cider presses, which don't appear to have been damaged by the fire, will be removed by crane sometime this month.
Demolition will take several weeks, said Sarah Gunther, who co-owns Fuhrman's with her husband, Bill Gunther, and their business partner, Roger Schultz.
Visiting Fuhrman's was a fall family tradition for many Erie-area families.
After the fire, the Gunthers and Schultz said they were overwhelmed by community support to rebuild.
They have said repeatedly that they hope to do so, but still need to resolve issues such as insurance payments, building permits and zoning issues before making a final decision.
