The demolition of a Tulsa hotel that once hosted Elvis Presley and two American presidents is expected to begin this month.
Asbestos removal is to begin June 18th at the Camelot Hotel, which will eventually be razed so the property can be sold for redevelopment.
The 330-room hotel along Interstate 44 was built in the 1960s to resemble a medieval castle, with turrets, a moat and a drawbridge. Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford were among the hotel's visitors, along with Presley.
It closed in the 1990s and was sold to a university that teaches transcendental meditation, but was later condemned.
Explosives can't be used on the hotel because of the proximity of a residential area, so the structure will be dismantled.
Work is expected to be finished in September.
