City officials are looking at condominiums and other uses for what had been one of the largest refrigerator plants in the nation.
Crews have demolished about three-quarters of the 1.7 million square-foot Electrolux AB factory in Greenville, MI.
Stockholm, Sweden-based Electrolux announced that the plant would be closed and most of its production moved to Mexico.
Frigidaire, Kenmore, White-Westinghouse, Gibson and Kelvinator were some of brands made at the facility before it closed in 2006.
Refrigerators were first produced in Greenville in the late 19th century, when they were made from wood and called ice boxes.
