Tiger Stadium could start coming down in a few weeks.
The Detroit Economic Growth Corporation says contracts with two companies to tear down the 96-year-old ballpark were finalized.
Officials say the city is not paying for demolition. The companies expect to make an estimated one million dollars by selling scrap from the stadium.
Certain parts of the stadium will be demolished first to give a nonprofit group more time to raise enough money to preserve part of the field and some seats behind home plate.
Geez, you think it took long enough? Didn't the tigers move out of the stadium in 99?
