Neighbors complaining about excessive dust coming from the demolition of the old Bryan Station High School found another problem.
When they went to complain to Lexington, KY city officials, they found that the contractor, Superior Demolition, had been working without a permit. Leaders told Action News 36 that it was simply an oversight, so they allowed work to continue. The contractor now has a permit.
Neighbors say the project is causing some minor inconveniences, but most wanted the new high school to be built.
"There will be a lot of rock and gravel. It could ruin my mower blade, fling it up against me, or something like that." said Keith Allison, who lives near the site.
The school district or the contractor could have faced fines of $500 a day for working without a permit.
