
The firm that demolished the old Pepperell High School and the contractor that built the new school have been fined a combined $10,100 for illegally dumping the materials in Floyd County, GA.
Floyd County Magistrate Court Judge Chris Mathis announced today that contractor Ra-Lin and Associates has been fined $5,000 plus court costs, for a total of $6,300. Demolition firm HBJ Corp. of Chattanooga will have to pay $3,000 plus costs for a total of $3,800.
Otting and Sons junkyard, where the material was dumped, is also facing a fine. A hearing for Otting is scheduled for Aug. 31 at 2:30 p.m.
Otting did not have permits for receiving construction material, local environmental officials said.
