The bungalows close to where a mineshaft opened up in Egremont,UK are to finally be knocked down this week.
Home group will begin demolishing bungalows at Greenmoor Road in Egremont, the scene of a mineshaft collapse in June 2005.
The demolitions are expected to take two weeks to complete.
The project is being managed by Architects Plus of Carlisle, on behalf of Home, and the demolition is being carried out by G & AM Lawsons of Distington.
Home customers who lived in the bungalows affected by the collapse have been found and relocated to suitable alternative accommodation over the last year.
Residents living near the bungalows have been advised of the works, which are part of the preparations for capping the mineshaft. The mineshaft capping works are expected to start soon after the demolition works subject to the outcome of further site investigations.
Home will shortly be submitting a planning application for the development of eight semi detached bungalows on the site and subject to planning permission being granted, anticipate the new bungalows will be completed in 2008.
