U.K. - Plans to replace a building widely regarded as the ugliest in Dundee have been unveiled to the public in a series of three-dimensional models.
The city council has put forward three designs to replace Tayside House, which was built in the 70s and would now cost millions of pounds to refurbish.
Officials said a new building would cost less to run and improve services.
Council leader Jill Shimi said: "Tayside House's days are coming to an end. We're all very glad about that."
Built as a home for Tayside's former regional council, Tayside House is no longer for fit purpose and it is hoped the replacement, Dundee House, will better deliver council services.
Ms Shimi said: "Dundee house will replace the ugliest, most hated building in the city.
"Tayside House would require millions of pounds to refurbish, so rather than waste money we felt it was important that the customers in Dundee had a facility that was more suited to their needs."
The models for the new building, which would be constructed on the city's North Lindsay Street, have gone on display in Dundee's central library.
Ms Shimi said it was important that the public had a say on the new design, adding: "It's important that the public recognises that this is their building."
The council is expected to make a decision on the successful design in May, with Tayside House due for demolition in 2009.
The project forms part of plans to improve Dundee's central waterfront area.
