The city of Flint, MI has been awarded $1.27 million to demolish vacant houses.
The City Council on Monday night accepted the grant from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority.
The state funding is in addition to the $1.05 in federal funds the council approved for demolition in May.
Tracy Atkinson, director of the city's community and economic development department, said the department has a list of all the Flint properties in need of demolition.
The list will be sent to each council member so they can have a say in prioritizing the demolition projects in each ward, she said.
