A former Rochester, NY city inspector is charged with bribery. This is an update on the ongoing investigation into how demolition contracts were awarded by the city.
The US Attorney's Office filed charges last week against William Redden, accusing him of tipping off a contractor about the lowest bids in return for $500 kick-backs.
The contractor would then submit a lower bid. The complaint does not name the demolition contractor that was tipped-off. However, state and federal authorities did search the home of Louis Sinsigallil earlier this year.
Sinsigalli Incorporated won the majority of the demolition jobs in the city.
Redden was suspended last September and has since resigned.
Three other city employees in the department of community development have been suspended or fired as part of the ongoing probe.
