Demolition work is scheduled to begin on a northwest Indiana bridge that was closed three years ago after a state inspection showed the 1.2-mile span had become dangerously weak.

Walsh Construction Co. of Crown Point, which received an $8.9 million state contract to complete the demolition work that is excepted to continue through the rest of the year.
