Congrats go out to Steve Pettigrew of Demolition Dynamics and DH Griffin for what looks like a successful implosion.

Looks like the IHOP is loving life. (But I heard a rumour that wreckers are notoriously bad tippers. At least at breakfast time anyway )

Here's some more info:
Have an ex-girlfriend/boyfriend here is unique way to get rid of some of the anger:
USC is giving the public an opportunity to do something cathartic with those unwanted pictures of exes and rejection letters from first choice schools.
The Carolina Plaza, the university's former visitor's center, is being imploded on February 5, and for $20 any items that are too good for the paper shredder can be blown up along with the building.
Lucy Hollingsworth, public information director for the Arnold School of Public Health, said that this was not simply a money ploy but a way to get people more involved in the campus.
"I don't think that we intended to make tons of money. It's more to raise awareness of the exciting things that are happening on the USC campus, especially the School of Public Health," said Hollingsworth.
The school has already gotten submissions, including a letter rejecting a person's request for publication and a letter voicing a negative attitude towards the implosion program that those in charge of the program decided to include with the submissions.
The submissions must be strictly paper due to safety concerns and a desire to not make more work for the demolition company.
"The implosion company has to tow it away, and we want to be safe," said Hollingsworth.
The money for the submissions goes towards the Norman J Arnold Educational Foundation, which supports the School of Public Health.
The school is in the process of completing construction of its new facility adjacent to Carolina Plaza, on the corner of College and Assembly Streets.
Submissions are due by Feb. 2, 2006 and must be sent to Lucy Hollingsworth, Arnold School of Public Health, 800 Sumter St., Columbia, SC 29208. A $20 check should be made out to the USC Educational Foundation
