Implosion or not, they were not taking into account how integrally stable elvated storage bins are. Those silo structures are tough to break up in the air and there isn't a good place to load charges in the walls. Your best bet is to trip/shoot/pull into a flat or pit area then ball or hammer, or go after it with a highreach processor.
They are lucky it didn't take out any other structures.

Interesting stuff. And a bit scary. I'm curious - what do you do when setting up an implosion job to prevent crazy problems and things going wrong? Is there someone on scene at these things to deal with injuries if someone does get hurt? (Forgive some of my ignorance here; I'm really just starting to learn all about demolition work!!)

Oh, man, that is some nice setup work, Mike. You can see that it is all falling just right. What was your strategy in setting up these drops so nice?

OH BOY!!!!!! I don't think it was a implosion? It looks to me like it was set up and pushed or pulled? From the outside it looked right. Who knows what they did on the inside. Goes to show that concrete is completely different than iron. It can be done that way but, you have to put the same amount of prep work into it as iron. Its a lot of work to do it but, very possible. Below is a iron structure that I set up. This is how it can go.

I've seen quite a few implosions over the years, but never anything like that. Very interesting prep work. Surprised

I'm not sure what they were thinking, it just looked like a disaster waiting to happen.

I can't believe no one got hurt.

Crazy stuff. At least nobody got hurt. They suffered pretty bad in the last earthquake.

A building demolition in Turkey went seriously wrong on Saturday when, instead of collapsing, it rolled over onto its roof. However, there were no reported injuries.
