It is really a pity to tear down a historic building.
lonking, it is an old steel mill. the place locked up and ruined the town in a matter of 90 days. that was 30 years ago and since has been nothing but a reminder that 75k people lost there jobs in 3 months. time for it to go. if there was anyone who had any other use for the place i am sure they would have bought it before this. the entire area if full of this old industrial buildings. there is nothing historical about it other then it is old.
Here's some of the back story - fixBuffalo: Bethlehem Steel North Office Demolition - Part I
The official City of Lackawanna line - "It's too far gone" is at odds with the photographic record. There is no floor or roof collapse.
Demolition is starting on the the Beaux Arts style building, built in 1902. The structure is located on the former Bethlehem Steel's Lake Erie waterfront complex in Lackawanna, NY. The building has been vacant for 30 years.
The City of Lackawanna recently obtained a court order forcing the owner of the vacant 101-year-old building to tear it down. Stating that is was in horrible shape and disrepair.
Empire Dismantlement of Grand Island, NY is doing the demolition.
