wolf - I guess its to run down and cost prohibitive to rebuild. Its owned by a elderely lady and her son. They've lived there for 33yrs and its to much for them to restore. We are doing the demo and they are having a new house built where we just tore down the carriage house , which is out behind the main farm. Kinda of sad , its on top of a large hill in town and was once the "town farm" .

so you're taking down a farmhouse that is 200 years old. wow, that is real old. how come they don't want to save it and restore the 200 year old farmhouse? is it in real bad shape, or are they just developing the property and it's in the way?

your pictures are great. let's see some more.

Hi Tom , how are ya? I think my son has wanted to help since he could walk. But this is his second summer actually going on jobs daily. He's a great help and we have a good time screwing around together. He's also the reason I have pics here , likes to mess with my cell , camera, computer & whatever else I dont want him touching. :D
Wolf - we saved some of the old fashioned glass, a pulley , two hay rakes , and some granite. I save alot of stuff from these farms and try to sell it or give it to someone who needs it. I really like demo on the residential jobs , beats the commercial crap all day. This carriage house was approximately 100yrs old. It had mostly all sawn boards . The actual farm house is approx. 200yrs old , i forget but the homeowner told me. It has hand hewn timbers and mortise and tennon joints in the barn. Heres a couple of todays pics. doug

nice looking demo. how old is that carriage house and farm house you are taking down? Looks like you are saving some of the windows, as I see a pile of them in the background. Can you save and sell any of the barn siding or any other pieces of the structures, or is it all getting trashed?

Doug,
Looks like a nice job...Good to see your keeping your son busy...My boys are only 6 so I am only able to bring them in on "shop days", they sweep up etc. Still keeps them busy. Hope all is well in Vacationland .

Thought I would post a couple of pics of a carriage house we took down yesterday. Its part of a large farmhouse were taking down. First we had to peel a shed roof off of a manure spreader that was being saved. Thats my 14yr old son who is helping me. doug
