A major project on the Buffalo waterfront will be finished ahead of schedule.

Asbestos remediation at Memorial Auditorium is expected to begin within the next two weeks.

The Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation said Friday morning that work will be finished by September 31st. Two months ahead of schedule.

The also means demolition will begin sooner. Most likely within the first couple weeks of October.

The chairman of the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation says things are going well with Bass Pro too. "They've met all the time tables that are in the pre-development agreement, as a matter of fact, they remain extremely aggressive on a timetable to a point where they've said is there any chance they could have a store open in 2009. Highly unlikely though," says Jordan Levy, of Canal Harbor Development Corporation.

The Canal Harbor Development Corporation also awarded a contract remediation of the Donovan Building. That work is supposed to be done by December.
