The planned redevelopment of Baltimore's west side is being tested in the courts.
Companies controlled by Orioles owner Peter Angelos and developer David Hillman want the development deal for the so-called "superblock" declared illegal. The companies are suing the Baltimore Development Corporation and the city.
The plaintiffs allege that the city's deal with Lexington Square Partners includes land not listed in the original bid package and allows the developer to deduct nearly half of the 21 million dollar purchase price for expenses such as demolition and environmental remediation.
